The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved a 1% stamp duty rebate on properties valued up to ₹1 crore when registered in a woman’s name, along with 36 other proposals spanning education, infrastructure, and industrial growth.
Women’s Economic Empowerment with Enhanced Stamp Duty Relief
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved a 1% stamp duty rebate on properties up to ₹1 crore registered in a woman’s name.
Previously, relief was limited to properties below ₹10 lakh—capping benefits at ₹10,000. Now, middle-class women will gain greater access to property ownership, financial confidence, and social status.
Wide-Ranging Cabinet Approvals
Beyond the stamp duty change, the Cabinet approved 37 proposals, including:
₹6,935.86 crore polytechnic upgrade (45 institutes, via Tata Technologies) to boost technical education
₹939.67 crore Chitrakoot Link Expressway (15.17 km, expandable to six lanes) for regional connectivity
₹2,000 crore tablet distribution under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana for digital literacy
Strengthening Industry & Defense
Key industrial initiatives include:
10 hectares land lease to DRDO’s IRDE at Re 1/year for an infrared detector centre, expected to generate 150 direct and 500 indirect jobs
4.62 hectares at Noida’s Parag Dairy to RAPHE mPhibr for UAV technology expansion, bolstering defense and local employment
Impact of Stamp Duty Relief
This measure aligns with the Centre’s 2024 Budget proposal to ease stamp duty for women.
By extending relief up to ₹1 crore, UP amplifies women’s economic participation and homeownership. The move may boost property registration and enhance women’s financial independence.
This stamp duty relief is a landmark step toward gender equality in property ownership. Combined with investments in education and infrastructure, it reflects a forward-thinking agenda. If you’re a woman planning to invest in property, now is the opportune moment—secure your future today.
