Krrish 4, the fourth installment in India’s premier superhero franchise, is officially moving into production after overcoming significant budgeting challenges. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama on his 76th birthday, producer-director Rakesh Roshan revealed that the film’s script was completed swiftly, but finalizing the budget took the most time. Now that the budget is locked, the team will commence shooting by mid-2026, aiming for a 2027 release.
Hrithik Roshan, who starred as India’s favorite superhero in the previous three films—Koi… Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006), and Krrish 3 (2013)—will wear both the lead actor’s and director’s hats for the first time. This marks Hrithik’s directorial debut, with pre-production work proceeding at full throttle to ensure the scale and visual effects meet the franchise’s high standards.
“We plan to release it in 2027,” Rakesh Roshan confirmed, putting to rest speculations of further delays. He emphasized that extensive pre-production is essential for a project of this magnitude and that meticulous planning is underway to guarantee a seamless shoot and post-production process.
The Krrish series, known for pioneering the superhero genre in Bollywood, follows Krishna Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), a second-generation superhero who inherits extraordinary abilities from his father Rohit Mehra. Each film has combined heartfelt storytelling with cutting-edge visual effects, setting box office records and redefining Indian action cinema. With Hrithik now at the helm, expectations are sky-high for Krrish 4 to usher in a new era for the franchise.
Fans can look forward to witnessing Hrithik Roshan’s vision behind the camera and the return of beloved characters when Krrish 4 hits theaters in 2027.
